Relatives Ensemble

In partnership with the Canadian Music Centre. With support from the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Music.

NMC is proud to launch the Relatives Ensemble, a brand-new, all-Indigenous new music ensemble led by conductor Danielle Jagelski. Bringing together outstanding performers from across Turtle Island, the ensemble’s artistry reflects the richness and diversity of Indigenous musical voices today.

For the ensemble, we have commissioned new works by: Pulitzer Prize winner Raven Chacon, Jason Young, Karen Sunabacka, Danielle Jagelski, and Eliot Britton. The ensemble features soprano Melody Courage alongside Virginia Sparvier-Wells, Kiegan Ryan, Tara-Louise Montour, Colton Welch, Jesse Plessis, and Lorena Navarro.
