MAKEWAY 2027

MAKEWAY 2027 is New Music Concerts' nationally recognized creation and mentorship program for early-career composers. Unlike most programs, MAKEWAY begins with each composer's artistic vision. Whether the music calls for electronics, soloists, non-Western traditions, or a unique combination of instruments, we build the ensemble around the idea.

Over an intensive week of rehearsals, workshops, and mentorship, participants collaborate with outstanding professional musicians while developing the artistic and practical skills needed for a creative career. The journey culminates in a public concert of world premieres, introducing audiences to some of Canada's most exciting new musical voices.

The MAKEWAY 2027 Call for Submissions is now closed. We received a record number of submissions, and will be announcing the MAKEWAY artists in October 2026.
