NMC's 50th Anniversary Commissions for Distanced Ensemble Digital Broadcast 1:
Cellist and composer Cris Derksen reflects upon the natural environment of the Toronto neighbourhood of Mimico, whose name is derived from the Ojibwe word omiimiikaa meaning "abundant with wild pigeons" and the importance of the area as a thoroughfare for the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples.
