NMC has been planning to feature Peter Eötvös for a number of years and is pleased to collaborate with the Toronto Symphony’s New Creations Festival (March 1-7, 2012) to present a concert curated by the Hungarian star composer and conductor. The concert will feature his wind Octet, written in memory of Karlheinz Stockhausen. It uses the same instrumentation as Stravinsky’s Octet which will serve as the culmination of the program. Eötvös’ Psy for flute, cello and cimbalom and Windsequenzen for a large mixed ensemble along with Zoltan Jeney’s Heraclitian Fragments complete this eclectic program.
